In 1871 , the Alsace and part of the Lorraine where integrated into the German Empire. In order to firmly establish the Hohenzollern Dynasty, and their authority over their new countries,  a pompous and extravagant building policy was introduced, especially in Strasbourg. In this way, the german genius and know-how was to be presented, and the german being of the Reichsland Elsaß-Lothringen could be witnessed, carved in stone.

On approximately thirty boards, the exibition shows how Strasbourg was converted to the capital of the new Reichsland,as well as the office buildings of the new government, the astonishing restoration of the castle Hoch-Koenigsbourg, and the construction of the Fortress "Feste Kaiser Wilhelm II" near Mutzig. The various architectural styles of the period can be discovered, and are explained thereby.
